UTILIZING 10 DIFFERENT BELLS IN EIGHT
CHURCH BUILDINGS AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
IN THE HISTORIC MISSISSIPPI RIVER TOWN,
BURLINGTON, IOWA.

THE BELL PROJECT IS A COMPOSITION FEATURING
THE RINGING OF THE OLD BELLS IN VARIOUS
COMBINATIONS OF CHORD PATTERNS AND OVERTONES
THAT SHOULD MAKE FOR A VERY INTERESTING
HOUR-LONG AMBIENT SOUND EVENT. SONIC WAVES
WILL ECHO THROUGH THE HILLS OF THE VALLEY
LONG AGO CARVED BY HAWKEYE CREEK AS IT FLOWED
INTO THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER. IN THIS VALLEY
WAS BUILT THE OLD DOWNTOWN OF BURLINGTON WITH ITS UNIQUE GROUPING OF MAJESTIC 19TH CENTURY
HIGH-STEEPLED CHURCHS. IT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL OF THE LARGE TOWN SETTINGS ALONG THE IOWA
MISSISSIPPI RIVER COAST.
